Virtual Net Metering
Virtual Net Metering for Households and Businesses
Leverage the energy you produce with the Virtual Net Metering system for increased energy efficiency.
Virtual Net Metering is the energy regime of offsetting the energy produced by the owner’s photovoltaic system with the total energy consumed by the owner’s associated facilities/premises. These facilities may not be in the same or adjacent area as the photovoltaic station and may be supplied by a different source. In the interconnected grid, it refers to a generation station installed in the same Regional Unit and connected to the distribution network under the jurisdiction of the Administrator, corresponding to the consumption facilities with which it is associated.
According to the Ministerial Regulation YPEN/DAPEEK/15084/382/19.02.2019, as well as its subsequent amendments, namely YPEN/DAPEEK/74999/3024/2021 and YPEN/DAPEEK /18393/686/2023(1), the right to participate in the Virtual Net Metering regime is granted to:
• Legal entities of public or private law pursuing general or local public interest purposes.
• Individuals registered in the Register of Farmers and Agricultural Holdings according to Law 3874/2010(2).
• Energy Communities(3).
The challenge with the traditional Net Metering scheme is that the photovoltaic energy production system must be physically connected to the property consuming the energy. However, this is not always practical, especially for those living in apartments, shaded areas, or historic buildings where the installation of photovoltaic systems may not be feasible.
At MEGVA Energy, we specialize in implementing Virtual Net Metering schemes. Our expertise covers the entire process, from selecting locations for photovoltaic installations, designing and installing the system, to managing the distribution of energy credits among participants. Our goal is to make renewable energy sources accessible and beneficial, regardless of the physical limitations of properties. With MEGVA Energy’s Virtual Net Metering solutions, everyone can participate in the clean energy revolution.
