The «Photovoltaics on Roof» scheme subsidizes households for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems with battery storage systems (batteries), and farmers for the installation of solar PV systems either with or without storage systems (batteries) for self-consumption utilizing the energy offsetting regime.
The maximum installed capacity of PV systems and batteries that can be financed is 10.80 kWp per installation.
Photovoltaic systems shall be installed on top of buildings (on roofs or rooftops including shelters, verandas, pergolas, facades, and shading devices), in ancillary spaces (warehouses and parking areas) or on the ground.
During the operation of the system (PV with battery), the energy generated is channeled to cover the household’s electricity consumption. In case of surplus energy, the excess proportion is supplied to the battery unit until the latter is fully charged, and only when that is completed, the remaining available energy generated by the PVs can be injected to the grid. When the energy generated is not sufficient to meet the household’s consumption, then the latter is covered first by the battery unit and then by the grid itself.
People eligible for the subsidy are Individuals (households) and farmers (professional farmers or farmers under a special regime) who have concluded a Connection Contract with the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) and have not been included in another funding program.
People cannot apply to the “Photovoltaics on Roof” scheme if they:
- had submitted their income tax return or joint tax return (as Contributor and Spouse/Member of the Civil Partnership Agreement) as foreign residents during 2021.
Each Individual (households) and Farmer can only submit a single application related to a single residence (either main or secondary, owned, rented or leased) with an active (non-shared) electricity supply. In case of applying for an agricultural electricity supply, the applicant is allowed to apply also for their residence.
